ClearWater Connection
Biographies
Tenor Tim Griner joined CWC summer 2010.
"Running a construction business and singing
keeps me busy. Singing with worship team at
Landmark Christian Church, Eau Claire Male
Chorus and CWC are just some of the places I
sing at. Julie and I have been married since 1982.
We have two daughters, Trisha and Samantha,
and one grandson, Joey. All these things keep me
happy and busy"
Lead Terry Hoepner has studied voice
professionally. He has performed in numerous
community theater productions and has been a
guest soloist for several choirs and chamber
chorales. Terry got his start in barbershop soon
after his retirement in 2004 and has enjoyed the
challenge and fellowship.
Baritone Mike Theiste has been employed with the
city of Eau Claire for the last 28 years working on
various departments and is currently a laboratory
technician at the Wastewater Treatment Plant. He
has been married to his lovely bride Shelly for the
same number of years and has 3 beautiful
daughters. Mike got his start in singing barbershop
style several years back with the group State Street.
After State Street dissolved mid-year of 2010, Mike,
along with Terry Hoepner, helped organize the
current quartet ClearWater Connection. He has
been busy singing also with the Eau Claire Male
Chorus, The Valley Gospel Choir, and with The Joy
Choir at Peace Lutheran Church in Eau Claire.
Bass Mark Walker recently retired from Land O'
Lakes/AFP where he worked for 32 years. He has
three grown sons, two grandchildren, and lives in
Eau Claire with his wife Cheryl. Mark has sung in
church choirs for many years and is an alumnus of
the  Eau Claire Male Chorus. This is Mark's first
venture into acappella quartet singing. When not
singing, Mark enjoys sporting events (now as a
spectator), the arts, and traveling with his wife.
ClearWater Connection
Biography
Formerly known as "State Street", ClearWater Connection was conceived in
July of 2010 by lead Terry Hoepner and baritone Mike Theiste with the
addition of Tim Griner taking over tenor and Tom Bohlinger singing bass. The
new quartet debuted at Carson Park on July 31st and again on August 3rd of
2010 by singing the National Anthem for a couple of sporting events. On
August 16th Tom Bohlinger announced sadly that he would have to leave the
group because of new employment opportunities. Enter Mark Walker to take
over at bass!
The new group has been working relentlessly since the end of August 2010
to put together a look, sound, and style that is unique among barbershop
quartets of today. ClearWater Connection steers away somewhat from the
traditional "barbershop" style with a vast repertoire spanning music genres
from doo-wop to country with patriotic, jazz, and some old southern gospel
thrown into the mix as well, while keeping that close harmony sound we've all
grown to love. Ladies and Gentlemen, ClearWater Connection!
